Naju City in South Jeolla Province has announced that it will allocate KRW 9 billion in public welfare allowances to local farmers this year. The distribution of the public welfare allowance is scheduled to take place from the 15th to February 23rd.

Applications will be accepted at the administrative welfare centers in each township or neighborhood. The public welfare allowance for farmers was introduced in 2020 by South Jeolla Province and local governments within the province to address issues faced by rural areas, such as population decline and aging, aiming to promote sustainable agricultural development.

This year's public welfare allowance will be a one-time payment of KRW 600,000, provided in the form of local currency, Naju Love Gift Vouchers.

The recipients can also charge their Naju Love Cards. Eligible applicants are farmers residing in Naju City engaged in agriculture since before January 1, 2023. However, those with a total income exceeding KRW 37 million, ineligible for subsidies, individuals with a history of public service or public institution employment, and cases where the head of the household and actual residence are separated will be excluded from the application.

Officials from Naju City urge farmers receiving welfare benefits to carefully review their eligibility to prevent reductions or disqualifications. Naju City has consistently provided public welfare allowances to farmers in the past and plans to continue this support in the current year.
