Gwangsan District in Gwangju has decided to share its core policies and business directions for the new year with residents through "Dialogues with Residents" in 2024, aiming to listen and consider citizens' suggestions and opinions.

Starting from January 16, the district mayor, Park Byung-kyu, along with officials, will visit 21 neighborhoods, beginning with Uryong-dong, to communicate with residents. During these dialogues, Mayor Park Byung-kyu will announce the operational direction of the district for the year, and officials will share specific core policies.

Furthermore, the results of addressing suggestions received from residents in the previous year's dialogues will be reported back to the residents to enhance the perceived effectiveness of administration through listening and communication. Mayor Park Byung-kyu will then explain the purpose and necessity of the first approval of the new year, the "Neighborhood Future Development Plan," and initiate a consensus on Gwangsan-style local autonomy.

The "Neighborhood Future Development Plan" is a community-based plan that outlines the future vision and medium-to-long-term development direction of the neighborhood, based on collaboration between local communities, residents, and administration. Gwangsan District aims to elevate neighborhoods to the status of a "community government," realizing an upward Gwangsan-style local autonomy.

Mayor Park Byung-kyu stated, "This year's dialogue with residents will be an occasion to declare the start of citizen-led district governance, with residents being the owners of the district and neighborhoods leading Gwangsan-style local autonomy," adding, "By paying attention to the scenes of life and the sounds of daily life, we will move forward with citizens towards the realization of a sustainable Gwangsan."
