The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (MOGEF) has announced that it will operate childcare services at weekday rates during the Lunar New Year holiday to promote stability of livelihood. From February 9th to 12th, which is the period of the Lunar New Year holiday, the ministry said it will apply weekday rates, not holiday surcharges, for the use of childcare services.
This measure is taken to fill the gap in childcare for families where parents have to work during the holiday period. The childcare service, which provides care for children under the age of 12 in the family, will apply a weekday rate of 11,630 KRW per hour during this Lunar New Year holiday period.
In addition, the MOGEF also announced that it will normally operate counseling and protection services for at-risk youth, victims of domestic and sexual violence, and multicultural families during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The Danuri Call Center for multicultural families and immigrant women will also be in normal operation, providing counseling on marital and family conflicts and information on life in Korea in 13 languages. The Family Counseling Phone for pregnancy and childbirth-related single-parent families and psychological and emotional support counseling will also be in normal operation. 135 youth shelters nationwide and the 1388 youth counseling telephone and online services are also operating 24 hours a day.
The Women's Emergency Phone 1366 is in normal operation, providing quick help 24 hours a day to victims of domestic and sexual violence who need emergency counseling, rescue, and protection. In addition, support for the deletion of victim footage is provided through the Digital Sexual Crime Victim Support Center. In addition, integrated counseling, medical, legal, and investigative services are provided 24 hours a day to victims of sexual violence, domestic violence, and prostitution in conjunction with the Sunflower Center.
